Welcome to Toowoomba East State School Outside School Hours Care. Our service offers Before School Care, After School Care and care on the school holidays (Vacation Care) and on Pupil Free days. The service is run through the school's P & C Association and is managed by a voluntary committee made up from parents of children attending the service. The service employs over 20 people in roles from Co-ordinator, childcare assistants and administration.
Children aged from 5-12 years may access the service, including prep attendees. Daily programs are designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children. Indoor and outdoor organised activities are offered daily. Permanent or casual places are available with the flexibility to suit most parents and guardians. We are limited in the numbers of children we can care for and availability of care is dependant on current enrolment numbers.
Before School Care
Before School Care is available from 6:30am to 9:00am Monday to Friday during school terms. A nutritional breakfast is offered to children. Supervised free play and organised activities are offered on a daily basis. After School Care
After School Care is available from 3:00pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday during school terms. Afternoon tea, which includes a variety of fruit, sandwiches and drinks is offered to all children. Occasionally hot snacks, eg. soup, pasta, etc. are offered. Throughout the afternoon a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities are offered to all children. Children are also provided with a quiet area for homework. Vacation Care & Pupil Free Days
Our vacation care program operates during all school holidays and on pupil free days from 7:45am to 5:45pm Monday to Friday. The program includes a wide range of art, craft, cooking and sporting activities. Swimming, in the school pool, occurs during the summer holidays.
Children are also given the opportunity to attend excursions to such places as the movies, the park and places of interest in and around Toowoomba and Brisbane.
Parents are required to provide their children with morning tea and afternoon tea, lunch and drinks. Water is provided for children at all times and a 'tuckshop' style lunch is available for purchase. Although this does not include morning or afternoon tea. Fees
Our current fee structure is available by phoning the service or calling in to our room. As we are a non-profit organisation, fees are designed to cover the costs of providing the service and are reviewed regularly.
Childcare Benefit is available to every family. For more information or to apply for childcare benefit please contact Family Assistance Office on 136150. Our Centre Reference Numbers (CRN) are 555008630L for Before and After School Care and 555010386L for Vacation Care.
General Information
Children cannot attend Outside School Hours Care without the parent/guardian having completed our enrolment form - a copy is available from our room - and having booked the children into the service for that day. Whilst attending Outside School Hours Care, children must adhere to all school rules and to the rules of our service. Children must wear a hat in order to play outdoors. The program is designed to give all children equal opportunity and to cater for the different needs, interests and abilities. Our staff do their very best to ensure your child is happy and safe whilst attending our service, although the help of parents, by attending our monthly committee meeting, is invaluable to us so we can design the service around our parents/guardians needs.
Service Philosophy
Toowoomba East State School Outside School Hours Care will strive to provide an environment, before and after school and during school holidays, for all children that is safe and caring, creative, happy and fun. We will also strive to promote self discipline, independence and mutual respect in children and staff. We wish to encourage all children and staff to extend themselves beyond what they believe they can do, taking into account their physical, emotional and social abilities.
