Founded in 1887, Toowoomba East has had a long association with the city of Toowoomba. It is certainly one of the premier primary schools in the city, catering for children from Prep to Year Seven. |  |
We have a proud tradition of providing quality state education and excel in a number academic, cultural and sporting areas. The school has excellent facilities, including a well resourced library, heated swimming pool, multi-purpose hall, music block, three ICT (Information Communication Technology) rooms, and adventure playgrounds. Because of its proximity to central Toowoomba, the school can also take advantage of facilities such as the beautiful Queen's Park.
Whilst our school does have an enrolment management policy in place to ensure our ability to cope with increasing demand for enrolment, applications from students residing outside of the defined catchment may be accepted subject to vacancies in the required year levels. Our SchoolAt present the school caters for approximately 800 students from Prep to Year 7. The catchment area of the school covers the north-east corner of Toowoomba, extending to the Mt Kynoch/Murphy's Creek and Withcott areas, but we welcome enrolments from other areas. The pupil polpulation is comprised of children from all socio-economic backgrounds and is supported by an active Parents and Citizens' Association. Parent support for the school is high and encouraged. As well as the P&C itself, there are a number of other associated committees including: School Auxiliary; Chaplaincy Committee; After School Care; ASSPA; Instrumental Music. The school also offers a Uniform Shop and a Tuckshop for your convenience. Co-curricula activities offered include cultural activities such as Junior/Senior Choirs, Drama Groups, Girls and ICT Club, Robotics Club, Chess and Verse Speaking Choirs. Sporting activities include girls and boys Touch, Australian Rules Football, boys and girls Softball, Tennis, Rugby League, Soccer, Netball, Hockey, boys and girls Cricket, Volleyball and Basketball. We have in excess of 76 staff working at our school, including our Principal, two Deputy Principals, thirty-four Classroom teachers, Support teachers, Music teachers, Teacher Librarian, Guidance Officer, Teacher Aides, Janitor/Groundsman, Administrative Officer and Assistant, Business Servicers Manager, ICT Manager, Library Assistants and Cleaners. We can also access numerous support staff in the Education queensland network, including Speech Pathologists and AVTs.
